1 Cedars 495m Par 5

A Strong opening hole of 495 metres, which is a three shot par five for all but the longest hitters. A tee shot favouring the right side of the fairway will set up a fairway wood or long iron, leaving a wedge or short iron into the green. The green slopes from back left to front right and you should try and keep your approach below the hole setting up a good chance of birdie.

2 Roadway 380m Par 4

Trouble awaits both left and right so a long straight drive is required for this slight dogleg right of 380 metres. Once in the fairway you are usually faced with anywhere between a 4 to 8 iron to a gently sloping green. Hitting the centre of the green is good advice here, the front of the green slopes back to the fairway, while both left and right the ball feeds away from the green leaving a tough chip.

3 Dunes 374m Par 4

A wonderful dogleg right of 384 metres. Do not be tempted to cut too much off the corner as trees and heavy rough lie in wait. A tee shot up the left half of the fairway opens up the green. Your approach must be kept short of the hole and will feed in from the right side. When on the green your work is only half done as this green slopes severely from back right to front left and any two putt from above the cup is a job well done.

4 Cashmores 149m Par 3

A well guarded medium length par 3 of 149 metres. Bunkers protect the green on both the left and right, be wary of the back pin placement as the green narrows considerably, the bail out area is certainly short, however a front pin placement will yield birdies.

5 Flaxmere 391m Par 4

The toughest hole on the course awaits! At 391 metres with out of bounds down the length of the hole on the right, a tee shot up the left will open up the dogleg right and leave a mid to long iron into the green. A steep tier across the green together with the greens length makes club selection critical. Once on the green a long two putt generally awaits to reward you with a par.

6 Longlands 454m Par 5

A straightaway par 5 of 454 metres. The most accessible par 5 on the course, a draw up the drier left side will reward you with length. If going for the green in two the bunker slightly short and right of the green must be avoided as birdies from this bunker are few and far between. The green slopes from back to front and the slope on the front right third of the green is trickier than it looks and you should look to keep the ball below the hole when the pin is here.

7 Hades 398m Par 4

A tough par 4 of 398 metres. A straight tee shot is a must here as the fairway is protected on both sides with trees. If even slightly off the fairway your second shot is compromised due to a narrowing of the fairway 70 metres from the green. The green slopes from back left to front right with short and right a good place to miss.

8 Rushes 179m Par 3

A well guarded par 3 of 179 metres. A gently sloping green from back to front will hold your approach shot. Dead ground behind the front greenside bunker makes the hole play longer than it looks making club selection tough. A par here is a good score.

9 Narrows 373m Par 4

A straightaway par 4 of 373 metres. This hole has to be described backwards because the green is where the difficulty lies. The front half of the green slopes away from the fairway, with a vale to the left and a lesser slope off the right. The key to the approach is to control the distance as much as possible, this is your best chance of making a birdie or avoiding a 3 putt. Therefore finding the fairway should be your main priority and even a 3 wood off the tee can be good play. A glance at the pin position on your right when you tee off #1 will pay dividends at this hole.

10 Pines 502m Par 5

Plays the hardest of the par 5's at 502 metres. The tee shot needs to be up the right as the hole doglegs left about 300 metres from the tee. The second shot is a positional play to avoid two large fairway bunkers. The approach is to a well-guarded green, do not be to disappointed with a par 5 here.

11 Aerodrome 371m Par 4

A dog left of 371 metres. Longer players will be able to cut the corner with the tee shot, the hump on the corner being a good line. The approach is crucial to scoring well on this hole. Left of the green is a steep bank and out of bounds, while anything right will kick right and leave a tough chip from the rough.

12 Punchbowl 326m Par 4

The shortest par 4 on the course at 326 metres is no pushover. A sharp dogleg at 200 metres means club selection off the tee is critical to finding the fairway. Once in the fairway the approach is to an elevated green with steep slopes on three sides, short being the only safe play. Although often only a wedge into the green the change in elevation causes many players to come up short.

13 Murleys 189m Par 3

A long par 3 at 189 metres. The green is protected by a vale to the right and a deep bunker to the left. Although a long iron shot the green is receptive and will hold a good shot. Once on the green be careful of the subtle slope from back left to front right.

14 Ngatarawa 361m Par 4

Not the longest par 4 on the course at 361 metres but certainly one of the toughest. The tee shot needs to be up the left side of the fairway because of the hole dog legs right however beware of the out of bounds on the left. The approach is to a steeply sloping elevated green, for this reason try and keep the approach shot below the hole. It is not uncommon to 3 putt from anywhere above the cup on this green.

15 Lands End 331m Par 4

This hole plays almost as a double dog leg of only 331 metres. The tee shot has to go through an extended shoot with trees on both sides, a fade is favoured to set up position on the right side of the fairway. The approach is to a two tiered elevated green protected by a mature tree on the left, a bunker to the right and a steep bank long. This green runs from back right to front left and only the most competent player goes for the back pin position.

16 Gulf 141m Par 3

A classic par 3 of 132 metres. Played from an elevated tee to a green guarded well by four bunkers. The green slopes gently from back to front. Great pleasure will be had from a good shot hanging in the sky over the flag.

17 Terrace 478m Par 5

Aptly named ‘Terrace,' a par 5 of 478 metres awaits. The name reflects a steep slope 230 metres off the tee. Only the strongest tee shot up a steep slope will provide the opportunity to get on this green in two. The green is protected by four bunkers, two greenside and two slightly short of greenside. It is these latter bunkers that must be avoided if going for the green in two. Take time to read your putts on this green as many subtle breaks abode.

18 Home 389m Par 4

The clubhouse beckons you from the tee of this par four of 389 metres. A generous fairway leads to a well guarded green with four bunkers. Only a good tee shot and accurate mid iron will be consistently rewarded. There are no tricks to this green, just the pressure of being overlooked by the gallery on the clubhouse balcony.
