The event of the year for your golfing abilities and also social calendar has arrived. The Ronald McDonald House Member Guest on 29th September is a ripper of an event which we have limited to 32 pairs. The weekend will roll like this: Friday afternoon (28th Sept) you and your partner/guest/fellow golfer are invited to have a game at Hastings. No charge to anyone coming as part of your team who is not a member. That evening we will swirl red wine and debate the merits of the calcutta (no not the place in India) before Brett and Michelle conduct the draw (8 groups of 4 teams). We will come up with eight elaborate names for the groupings (ideas welcome). Saturday morning will come around quickly and we will be ready for a 7:30am shotgun. Some will be nursing sore heads from the night before so it will be a quiet shotgun. You will play your first match of best ball stableford.
9:30am we will serve a morning tea on the verandah and get you back out on the course for a 10:00am kick off for your second match. 12:00pm lunch...perfect. Kieran will rustle something up and you will have an hour to digest your meal, rehydrate and discuss tactics for the third and potentially final match in your group. After three matches we will conclude the group stages. There may be some ties for 1st in a group.. don't worry about that, we will conduct a chip off on the 18th green to sort out ties. Once we have eight winners from the eight groups - groups 1-4 will tee off on the 4th hole with the winners of groups 5-8 following with elimination happening on each hole (4, 5, 18). The winning group from each of the four will play the winner of the other four and the teams knocked out on the 18th will play the other team knocked out on the 18th to see who finishes 1, 2, 3 or 4th in the event and take home the biscuits. At the completion of the day we will have a smart casual dinner in the clubhouse with prizegiving and most importantly the auction which Matt McDowell from Bayswater European has kindly volunteered to MC. The bidding will be fast and furious and Matt will take an itch of the nose or a fully fledged nod of the head for any bid so get into it. Ronald McDonald House is our chosen charity this year. We have some exceptional money can't buy prizes in the auction....did someone say Tara Iti? We have had word that some of you want to play with a member from Hastings - we have listened. We are now opening the event up to any pair - Hastings/Hastings or members and guests. For the $150 entry fee you are getting three meals, a great day out and some ridiculously good prizes. Do get involved and don't miss out. It is events like these that make the club what it is - the best members course in Hawke's Bay. If you have any questions please get in touch with Brett or Michelle. |
