President Update
All the best in 2019.

Your Management Committee recently commenced our 2019 programme and welcome our new members Lynne Roberts, Ian Shears and Liz Wood.

Cart Shed
We received a $2,000 grant from Infinity Foundation towards the extension.  This project involves enclosing the lean-to on the existing steel cart shed, creating 11 new cart spaces.

All existing members using the cart storage and those on the waiting list will receive information regarding the options available to fund this improvement very soon,.  These options were developed following a meeting of cart shed users towards the end of last year, thank you for the feedback from those involved.

Information is available to other interested members via Michelle.

Don Forsyth, Best Forsyth Electrical has once again been very supportive of another project at Hastings Golf Club.  Thanks Don!

This will hopefully be a good step forward in meeting ongoing membership demand for cart storage,.

Predator Free Campaign
Congratulations to everyone supporting this project.  We have achieved the initial target of 50 traps, but the more the merrier to ensure greater coverage.  Anyone else wishing to sponsor a trap please contact the office.

Many thanks to Murray McNae for his efforts in instigating this project.

Sub-Committees
We have identified three key focus areas for this year and have placed the responsibility for researching and reporting on, to nominated groups as follows:

Strategic/Finance
Peter Clayton (chair), Graeme Bell, Maxine Reeks, Murray McNae

Membership/Clubhouse
Tim Southward (chair), Graeme Bell, Gary Grootelaar, Lynne Roberts

Golf
Ian Shears (chair), Liz Wood, Paul Clothier, Martha Manaena, Brett Allan

If any members wish to raise specific issues/suggestions please contact Michelle Campbell or the appropriate committee members as per above.

Management involvement of General Manager and Golf Operations Manager included in sub-committees where appropriate.

We believe this will bring a greater governance focus on specific topics within the Management Committee and open communication channels for members.

NZ Seniors Tournament - 8-10 February
I believe this is a great promotional opportunity for the club.

An oversubscribed entry has meant 174 players from around the world will be participating.  These are aged 55+ and are keen/good golfers who are likely to spread the word about Hastings Golf Club to their friends and associates, i.e. more visitors to our club in future.

For those who are not aware our very own Stuart Duff is the NZ Seniors defending champion, so if available please come out and watch some good golf and support Stu during the tournament.  Fairways will be offering a breakfast menu throughout the tournament, available 6:00am-12:00pm.  All the best to those Club members playing [edit:  this includes our President!].

Let's all promote the benefits of Hastings Golf Club to the many visitors.
