Captains' Report

NEW MEMBERS

Firstly, we would like to offer a warm welcome to so many new members joining our wonderful club.

It seems that a new membership application is received almost daily at this time. Many have expressed their thanks for receiving a friendly welcome and their delight at the condition of our course. Please make an effort to introduce yourselves to any new faces. It is important to make everyone feel at home.

VISITORS

We are also meeting many visitors from all over New Zealand and from overseas and they too have glowing things to say about Hastings Golf Club. One couple from Wellington spent a week in early February exploring Hawke's Bay and playing several courses. They are returning next week to start house hunting and if successful, will very likely be new members at Bridge Pa soon after.

HOLE-IN-ONE

We would also like to express our congratulations to John Clothier, who after nearly 65 years of playing golf, had his first Hole-in-One last Tuesday on No 16. John is one of our very senior members and gives hope to us all that this is a game for all ages.

JONES FOUR BALL

The draw for the Jones Four-Ball is posted, with the deadline for the first round still a few weeks away. Please remember that this date is a final date for play and we encourage teams to get together and play earlier if possible. It would help speed up play on crowded days.

CLUB CHAMPS

The qualifying rounds for Club Champs have now been completed and the draw has been posted. Again, please contact your opponent and get the games completed asap, thus helping to thin out busy tee times.

MOBILE PHONES
Please turn phones to silent while on the course. We understand that it’s not always possible for some of you to switch off completely, but please don’t let your ringing phone upset others on the course.

RONALD McDONALD MEMBER GUEST TOURNAMENT

Well done to the Club for the successful day last Saturday with the Ronald McDonald House charity golf event. We appreciate that some members weren’t able to enjoy their normal Saturday game, but with $16,000 raised, all members can be proud of the Club for supporting such a worthwhile charity. This is likely to be an annual event for the Club, so please consider entering yourself and a partner next year.

SPEED OF PLAY

Ready golf is encouraged on the course, but please also be mindful of player safety and consideration to those in your group still to play. We would also like to remind members, when exiting the 8th green to walk to the left behind the 9th tee and thus help those waiting to tee off the 8th.

PREDATOR TRAPS

Did you sponsor a Predator Trap? Have you checked yours? They are now all in place, baited and already catching vermin. If you see a trap and a yellow ribbon is not visible, it is probably sprung.

MIXED EVENTS

This coming Sunday 31 March is the first of seven Mixed Events planned for 2019, finishing with the Newbigin Foursomes on 22 September. If you do not have a partner, please speak to either of the Club Captains or enquire in the pro shop, we may be able to help or put the word out for you.

Finally, as this wonderful Hawke's Bay weather continues, please continue to enjoy our facilities and promote our great club to all your friends and acquaintances.
