Golf Committee Update

We are well into the year’s club competitions in the men’s, women’s and mixed events all having started. Congratulations to all the winners so far for 2019.

We are looking to revamp Twilight for the 2019/20 season. The following are the ideas so far:

  • 3:30-5:30pm from the 1st or 10th tee
  • Pairs stableford matchplay ladder (find your own partners for the year and play with and against any other pair)
  • Prizes per evening for the best golfers
  • BBQ meals beside the pro shop with beer and wine available for purchase from the pro shop.

These are all ideas at this stage but your golf committee are working hard to create events and opportunities for members and visitors to use the amazing facility we have.

Driving Range

We are currently looking into re-developing the signage on the driving range to allow for more distances. We would welcome any ideas relating to this but at this stage we would look at 200m, 160m, 135m and 100m all in a straight line (similar to now). We would then put in 80m, 60m and 40m on each side of the range.

If anyone has any ideas for driving range targets please feel free to send them through.

Rules Officials

We would like to congratulate the following club members obtaining Club Level Rules certification.

Judith Gimblett

Peter McIntosh

Gayle McLennan

Gaye Robertson

Vicki Small

Harvey Stephen

Lance Williams

Elizabeth Wood

Also a congratulations to Merv Lewis, Elizabeth Bell and Ian McKinlay for achieving Level 2 status which allows them to referee at a national level.

Feel free to ask any of the referees or AJ and Brett if you have any questions. The R&A have a great app for the rules and we would encourage all members to download this for reference on course if the need arises.

NZ Golf & DotGolf Apps

Available for iPhone these apps make checking your handicap, booking tee times and checking reults simple. It is great to see so many members using these apps and comparing scores and results in the clubhouse after their rounds. We suggest you download these apps to make tee bookings easier.

Pennants

The pennants season has started and the first three rounds of women’s pennants (mid-week interclub) have been played, with the Hastings Bellbirds having three wins and Hastings Tuis one win.

The first two rounds of Crossman Cup (weekend interclub) have been played and the Hastings team has had a half, a loss and two halves in the fourball.

On the men’s side Champ 1 and Champ 2 have perfect records of three wins from three and leading their divisions. Champ 3 is second equal currently. Handicap 2 lead their division and Handicap 4 are second so the men’s teams are all in position to do well this year. If you would like to play pennants let AJ and Brett know because there are times where teams are scrambling to fill a squad of six players

North Island Seniors

Congratulations to Stuart Duff for winning the North Island Seniors at New Plymouth at the end of March. Stu blitzed the field by 12 shots. A great effort by Danny Adcock to finish 13th also.

Shootouts

The men and women shootouts are up and running. Bayswater have kindly put a starting pool of money in to make sure the event has a substantial prize pool. The men’s event is running on the first Thursday and Saturday of each month.

The women need to sign up in the pro shop and then hand in three solid scoring cards to qualify ($1 per card submitted). If you have any questions please ask AJ and Brett in the pro shop.
