The summary of kills and the 'leaderboard' is available here A big thanks to Brian Horspool who has joined the team of volunteers to assist and 'spread the load' among the helpers of Murray McNae, Jo Allen, Alison Forsyth, Barry Musson, Bob Bishop and Mike Harris. A special thanks from me to everyone that has popped into the office, text, phoned, emailed and even given me a dance (!) to offer congratulations on the recent award bestowed on me in the National Golf Awards, it's very much appreciated. Peter Clayton & Tim Southward accompanied me to the NZ Golf chairman's dinner and awards evening on 29th April in Auckland and it was great to be recognised within the industry. The club is in great heart and Hastings is definitely at the forefront of industry initiatives. Your Management Committee have a good handle on governance and looking at the club's strategic and long term vision. Canterbury Golf Forum I was invited to attend and be a panelist at the Canterbury Golf Forum last Sunday at Clearwater organised by Canterbury Golf Assn. There was 37 local clubs represented from employees, chairperson, president, club captains and other volunteers. The day was facilitated by Stephen Gee of AUT and topics discussed were Maximising Club Profitability, Effective Governance Relationships, Using Technology to Drive Your Club and Club Sustainability. The round table discussions were extremely worthwhile for all of those in attendance and there were definitely similarities and issues facing clubs in Hawke's Bay that those in Canterbury are going through. Keynote speaker of the day was local businessman and golfer Todd Heller of the famous Heller's Sausages. Todd a humble and personable straight-shooter spoke of his upbringing, how he started his business and intertwined his journey with golfing anecdotes and experiences. A sporting philanthropist the now retired Heller and his company are heavy supporters of golf in the Canterbury region. |
