Women's Update

Welcome to winter in Hawke’s Bay! A few frosts, a bit of rain and a lot of sunny days. We’re not doing it tough, are we?

There’s just the usual winter activity to talk about at the moment;

Hutchinson’s Tournament results

Thanks to everyone who participated, I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. My apologies for not being able to be there, from the feedback I have had it was a good day, and Kieran and the team prepared a lovely lunch.

Congratulations to the main winners:

Annie Hutchinson Salver: Sally Bush

Farquharson Trophy: Deb Hewitt

Smith Salver: Lois Campbell

Lucy May and Bays bronze

This annual tournament was held in Gisborne this year, with Deb Hewitt, Robyn Stallard, Annabelle Absolom and Jo Wheater representing our club as part of the Hawkes Bay team. There were a couple of interesting format decisions made at the last minute, but as usual the Poverty Bay teams were hard to get past. Final results were:

Lucy May: Hawke’s Bay 8 ½ Poverty Bay 9 ½

Bays Bronze: Hawke’s Bay 6 Poverty Bay 12

Mona Hunter Tournament

This annual tournament played between Napier, Hastings and Waipukurau has been scheduled for Monday 19th August at the Napier Golf Course. Please add this to your diary, we will be asking for players closer to the time.

Marjory Holt Trophy, and Bronze 1 and 2 Matchplay

The draw is up on the noticeboard, with the first round to be played by July 23rd. As usual it is protocol for the player listed on top to arrange the match, but if you haven’t heard from them feel free to make contact with your opponent so that all matches can be played by their due dates. Good luck with your matches.

Club Champs

The business end of the match play competitions! Entries are now being taken for the club champs with three categories, junior, intermediate and senior. It is good to get as many entries as possible, so even if you feel your handicap puts you at the higher end of your category please add your name to the entry list. If you play well on the day, anything can happen.

Keep warm, and play well.

Liz
