Women's Update

The winter season is wrapping up, but there is still a lot happening in and around the course.

Congratulations

Several members travelled to Gisborne for the Poverty Bay Women’s Open. Congratulations to Deb Hewitt for winning this 54 Hole event.

Club Champs Finals

The three finals matches have now been played, and the winners are:

Open: Martha Manaena over Fiona Ellis

Intermediate: Nichola Dallas over Libby Warren

Junior: Sandra O’Sullivan over Buffy Longstaff

Thank you to the members who came out on Sunday afternoon to watch the action. I know the players were grateful for your support.

Good luck to our winners who will be competing in the Champion of Champions at HB Golf Club on Sunday November 10th. Start time is 8:30am and spectators are welcome.

Interzone

The annual interzone tournament between Northern, Central and Southern was played at Waipukurau GC on September 16th. Central finished a creditable second behind Southern. Thanks to Robyn Stallard, Jo Allen, Judy Farquharson, and Patsy White for being part of the Central team.

Sybil Green Tournament

Congratulations to Martha Manaena and Fiona Ellis for being selected to represent Hawke’s Bay in the Sybil Green Tournament. They will be competing in Wanganui on 19-20 October. Best of luck to you both, and to the rest of the Hawke’s Bay team.

Robbie Brown Tournament

This was held on September 24th and was well attended by members. It was the first time Robbie Brown have sponsored a tournament at Hastings, and they are already making plans to return next year, bigger and better. The Texas Stableford format was enjoyed by everyone, as was the fashion parade showcasing Robbie Brown’s latest range. Well done to the models; Pam Robbie, Martha Manaena and Steph Pinel, and DJ Kay Brown all the way from Brisbane, your presentation was very entertaining.

As usual Kieran and our team provided a delicious buffet lunch, but special thanks must go to Pam and Kay for subsidising the cost of the lunch as well as providing wine and coffee – an exceptionally generous gesture.

We require helpers to assist with the shootout final on November 24th. Please contact me on 021 721635 for more information.

The club is also looking for volunteers for Wednesday October 23rd to assist with some divot maintenance. Be at the course by 8:30am on Wednesday if you can help.

The club will need a number of volunteers to help with the smooth running of the NZ Men’s Interprovincial Tournament 26th to 29th November. Please contact the office if you can help.

Happy golfing.
