As we are fast nearing the end of the year, I wish to bring members up to date regarding the following:

AGM

Thank you to all attendees.

A special thanks to Tim Southward and Graeme Bell, especially Graeme’s efforts as men’s vice president, for your valued contributions to the Management Committee.

Congratulations to Gary Grootelaar on his re-election.

A special event occurred when Maxine Reeks nominated two new life members; Jenny Scotland and Elizabeth Bell. The effort these two have contributed as referees over many years plus other contributions to the club activities has been exemplary. Their nomination was seconded and passed unanimously.

On behalf of the Club my sincerest thanks to Jenny and Elizabeth for all you have contributed in time and expertise to HGC and golfers, particularly in the Hawke's Bay region.

NZ Interprovincial Tournament

WOW, what a successful week for HGC. The feedback from players and team managers has been very special.

The recognition of all involved, Gordon and greenkeepers, volunteers, referees, Kieran and the Fairways crew, Michelle’s and Brett’s teams, Phil Aickin and NZ Golf was acknowledged. HB Today also provided extensive coverage, which all helps promote the wonderful game of golf.

I believe we have created a lot of NZ’s top golfers as advocates for what the club has to offer and will encourage their friends and associates to visit us.

The participants enjoyed our course but also the feedback from members about what a pleasure and how lucky we are to have such a course to play on has been repeated to me numerous times. A huge thank you to Gordon and the greenkeeping team for your efforts in preparing the course prior to and during the tournament.

Also thank you to all members for your understanding and patience whilst this event took place. Hawke's Bay is unlikely to see this event for another 14 years.

Irrigation

At the AGM we provided a one-page flyer of the proposed irrigation replacement plan regarding the timing of works and current financials. Please read here a copy of this information and don’t hesitate to contact Michelle or myself re any unanswered questions.

Also, from time to time Gordon will provide information re the replacement plan etc.

Christmas and 2020

To all members and staff please have an enjoyable time with family and friends over the festive season.
