Hastings vs. Internationals
Allow images
We recently held our first match with Hastings locals taking on our International members in individual match play.

A great day was had by all and finished off nicely with a meal at Fairways Cafe|Bar.

As our international members have started to depart we wish them (another) great summer and look forward to them returning later in the year.

Do You Know A Front Of House Superstar?
Due to staff changes recently we are currently on the look out for two new FOH persons to join our team at Fairways Cafe|Bar in full time roles.

If you do know of someone in the hospitality industry that could be looking for a change please let them know.

The role is currently being advertised on Seek here, or alternatively applications can be sent directly to Kieran on fairways@hastingsgolfclub.co.nz

Closed for Coring
A reminder the course will be closed for coring on Monday & Tuesday next week.  Renovation is an important part of our course maintenance.

Fairways Cafe|Bar will also be closed as this gives us an opportunity to catch up with some maintenance.

Dinner Club Approaching

The first dinner and the first impression.  The first dinner is set out to excite, surprise and leave longing to countdown the days till the next one.

Your first Dinner Club concept is "Inspiration".

On the night you'll be dining in a unique table setting to engage with local Hawke's Bay Winemaker, Jason Stent, the chief wine maker at Paritua Winery.  He will be putting together a live blending so that you can enjoy and experience what drives a man to create a product of passion.

As for the food, Kieran has decided to recreate some memories into dishes from his past.  What inspired him to become a chef and what led him here today.   He will also be entering the restaurant between each course to talk a little bit about how he created the dish and the memory that has driven it.

As always Kieran has been hush hush with the details of the actual dishes, but this is what we know:
  • Amuse bouche shortly after arrival
  • Course 1
  • Course 2
  • Course 3
  • Course 4
  • Course 5
"Using the nostalgia of my past, contemporary techniques of today and the produce of Hawke's Bay, I invite you to join myself and my team for an exclusive dining experience"
Kieran Genge

If this sounds tempting, please get in touch with Fleur in the office to secure the last of the tickets available as a 'one-off'.

LOVE Golf Futures is about enriching the lives of young people through golf. With a love of golf, young people will be motivated to remain active for life, help develop valuable life skills and provides opportunities for children and parents to learn and play golf together.

In order to foster and nurture the development of a young person’s growth in golf, its important young people have guidance. A Futures Coach can help start young people along a path where golf will enrich their lives, for a lifetime.

New Zealand Golf are seeking people to become a Futures Coach – a person who helps young people grow a love of golf.

Who is a Futures Coach?

A Futures Coach is a person who enjoys their time supporting young people. A Futures Coach could simply be a parent, grandparent, or caregiver taking their child to golf; or it could be a passionate club member, volunteer, administrator, committee/board member, or someone who has time to help a group of young people from their club explore and learn golf. It could also be someone who wishes to support their PGA Professional coach young people at their club or facility and take them on course to play golf.

Futures Coaches aren’t expected to be golf swing instructors, nor are they expected to be a gun golfer. It is for people who are passionate about young people and golf.

How can you become a Futures Coach?

New Zealand Golf have released a new online learning platform called Golf Tutor. Found at www.golftutor.co.nz, people can find out more about the role of a Futures Coach and how they can help create quality experiences for young people to learn and play.

Golf Tutor will enable you to learn, receive feedback, ask questions, and share success stories. Golf Tutor is a fun, interactive learning tool that can assist you to help enrich the lives of young kiwi kids.

We need your support

We encourage you to register and check out the three on-line Futures Coach modules, where you will better understand the role of a Futures Coach and how this volunteer role can support the quality junior programme you currently have or wish to build. In these modules, you will also be able to access the Love Golf Futures Coaches Kit, which has 38 warm up exercises, learn and play and on-course game cards, as well as the Love Golf Futures Club Kit.

New Zealand Golf are dedicated to helping potential Futures Coaches understand their role and how they can create a quality experience for young people at their club or golfing facility. Golf Clubs and PGA members play a vital role as they’re the point of contact between young people and potential Futures Coaches. We ask for your support in letting the parents of your junior members and other key adult influencers at your club know about this resource.
