Rules Seminar - Level 2

The Hawke's Bay Golf Referees Association is holding Rules seminars on Monday 1st and 8th September at the Maraenui Golf Club starting at 7:00pm.

There will be an optional practical session at Hastings Golf Club at 10:00am on either Saturday 13th or Sunday 14th September.

The seminars are designed for club golfers:

a) who have done the Level 1 Course or

b) those who wish to improve their knowledge and understanding of The Rules of Golf.

At the completion of the course all candidates can sit the optional 90-minute examination.

Junior Update – August 2025

Golf HB Futures – Waipukurau 10 August

Congratulations to George Pogson who has made it a clean sweep by winning the boys gross in the latest Golf HB Futures Event.   He has now won three in a row.  Also, the last two events have been trials for the Hawkes Bay Junior Boys Team.   Well done George on your impressive consistency. 

Golf Hawkes Bay Junior Boys Interprovincial Team

Congratulations to George Bidwell, George Pogson and Luke Jarvis for being named in the Hawkes Bay Junior Boys Interprovincial Team which is being held in Cambridge 29 September – 3 October.    

Southern Hawkes Bay Mens and Womens 27 Hole Tournament – Dannevirke 2^nd August

Womens Gross – Ruby Jarvis 2^nd and Niamh McGillicuddy 4^th.   A big thank you to Martha Manaena for taking Ruby and Niamh down for the event.

New Zealand Age Groups

Good luck to George Bidwell, George Pogson and Ruby Jarvis who are playing in the NZ Age Groups Championships being held at Boulcott’s Farm Golf Club 27-29 August.   

Aims Games

The Zespri Aims Games is New Zealand's largest sporting competition for intermediate school students (Year 7 and 8).

Golf is being held 2– 4 September at Te Puke/Tauranga/Mount Maunganui Golf Clubs.   Good luck to our Hastings junior members who will be representing their schools.

SG Jones Junior Fund - Applications Now Open

The SG Jones Junior Fund was established in 1985 to honour the commitment of the late Stuart Jones to junior golf development at Hastings Golf Club, providing financial assistance to help our young members enhance their golfing potential.

The Fund is invested through the Hawke’s Bay Foundation, ensuring sustainable growth to support juniors each year. Funds are used to assist with coaching, equipment, tournament fees, and travel expenses to help juniors take their game to the next level.

We are now inviting applications for the upcoming year. One junior member (aged 18 or under) will be selected, based on golfing achievements, commitment to the game, academic performance, and potential for improvement.

Interested juniors should submit their application, including personal, academic, and golfing information, along with a short statement on how this funding would help their development.

Applications close 14 September 2025.
