October 2025
We’re now coming to the end of the calendar year and in the next three months there are several events to look forward to and club obligations to complete.
We welcome back the Cranford Hospice tournament on Friday 3rd October and the Malaghan Institute Tournament on Friday 31st 2025. Two charities we are proud to support.
Significantly, the annual Newbigin Foursomes takes place this Sunday and the annual Men versus Women event on Tuesday 7th October. The club champions in all but the men’s senior division, will play their final matches on 11th October. If you’re at a loose end on the 11th come down and support the finalists. Other club trophy finals, men and women, and interclub events take place in October so keep an eye out for your club captain’s newsletters. Good luck to all those competing.
On 24th and 25th November the Management Committee will host its final Members’ Engagement Session for the year. These events have proven to be of significant benefit to the committee and, I trust, to the members who have attended.
Following the completion of our end of year accounts the annual audit is about to take place. Due to the filing of our new constitution and the fact that we are now compliant with the latest Incorporated Societies Act our audit takes us to Tier 3 financial reporting standards. What does this mean? A whole new level of reporting requirements and a considerable amount of extra end of year reporting work for our General Manager. The annual report will contain a few more pages to read as well.
Nominations for Management Committee positions will open on 9th October. There will be a vacant position on the Management Committee. If you feel you have the skills and commitment to contribute to the governance of the club, please speak to the General Manager or to me. Nominations close on 31 October.
Our Annual General Meeting this year will be on 9th December.
Happy golfing.
