November 2025
At its meeting this week the management committee reviewed the financial results for the 2024/25 financial year to 30 September. We were pleased to see that, although the course expenses were approximately $20,000 over budget, as anticipated, we achieved a small net operating profit of $96,706, pending final audit. This was due in part to careful attention to the budget, and budget over runs, throughout the financial year. Café sales and tournament revenue also contributed to the result.
Our budget for the next financial year is a very conservative one. One which does not anticipate the same level of revenue from centres other than subscriptions. Subscription revenue being set as about equivalent to wage costs.
The committee was delighted, as I hope the members will be, to receive and study the recently commissioned Hastings Golf Club Vegetation Masterplan. This document is the course landscape vision for the future, and we thank Ben Simons for instigating this objective. We are also extremely grateful to Wayfinder for preparing the plan. Due to the size of the masterplan (43 pages) it can be found within the Members Handbook on the club website here for your information.
On 24 November we will be hosting two Members Engagement Sessions. This will be another opportunity for members to come along and bring your comments and questions to representatives of the management committee. Ben Simons will also attend for any of you with course related questions. I’m sure there will be some of you who wish to talk to Ben about the Vegetation Masterplan.
We’re fast approaching year end. There are several men’s, women’s and mixed end of year events to look forward to and I hope as many of you as possible can enjoy these. Keep an eye on the notice boards.
Happy golfing (despite the wind!)
