Wallace Development Pro Am
Wednesday 21st January saw a field of 30 professionals and 30 amateurs line up on the start line for the Wallace Development Pro Am! The heavens opened and it did not stop all day! The field of 60 battled through the conditions with Jarrod Williams and his Pro Ethan Jones taking out the Pro-Am component of the event. Ethan Jones (Taranaki) was the victor in the professional division beating Cam Jones in a playoff. They ended regulation tied on -2.
This signals the end of this cycle of sponsors and partners for professional golf at Hastings Golf Club. We succeeded over the last four years of hosting a Charles Tour event, the NZPGA Championship as a standalone event, the NZPGA Championship as an event part of the Aus PGA TOUR and a 1-day Pro Am. As members you can be proud of the way that Ben and the team presented the course throughout the events. Not a blade of grass out of place!
These events don’t happen without sponsors, and it is important to acknowledge their committed contributions over the past four years.
- Jonathan Wallace - Wallace Development
- Matthew McDowell / James Ridley - Bayswater European and Hawke’s Bay BMW
- Pud Scott- Cape Physio
- James O’Rourke - Ping NZ
- Eden McCabe - PowerTurf
- Kim Bone - F.L. Bone
- Steve McNamara - Property In-depth
- Ed Connolly - Tuki Tuki Cottages
We appreciate everything you have afforded the events over the past four years.
Wallace Development Hastings Open
After the Pro Am and 100mm of rain on Wednesday Ben and the team had the course dialled in for the Wallace Development Hastings Open. We had over 120 entries this year and a waitlist which reached 15 golfers at one point! This was immensely pleasing and a great problem to have as we get closer to the 100th edition of the event.
We would like to acknowledge the following winners:
Isaac Steel - 73,721,71 - 216 - Men’s Elite
Angeline Loh - 70, 73, 76 - Women’s Gross
Ed Connolly - 37, 36, 36 - Men’s Premier
Jimmy Andersen - 40, 34 - Under 19
