Plan Change Hearing Next Week
We would like to remind all members of the upcoming public hearing for Private Plan Change 7 (Hastings Golf Course), which is an important process that will influence the future of our club and its surrounding land.
Private Plan Change 7 proposes to rezone the Hastings Golf Course land at 1523 Maraekakaho Road from Plains Production Zone to a Sport and Active Recreation Zone, including a “Heretaunga Golf and Leisure Precinct.” This would enable continued golf operations alongside potential future development such as recreational facilities, residential housing, and visitor accommodation.

Shand Salver/Development Quadrangular
A team of Juniors were selected to represent Hawke’s Bay at the lower north island quadrangular against Wellington, Taranaki & Manawatu/Wanganui down at Marton Golf Club on Monday 13th April & Tuesday 14th April.
The Shand Salver team saw two players from Hastings with Ruby Jarvis & Luke Jarvis selected with Miller Henare & Nate Fraser from Napier the other two players.
Unfortunately, the weather on day one was very bad which saw their first match against Wellington being washed out.
Day two saw the team up against Taranaki in the morning. It was a very tight matchup with Ruby winning 1up & Luke halving his match. The team narrowly lost 2.5-1.5.
The afternoon saw the last round against Manawatu/Whanganui. Yet another tight tussle with a result of a 2-2 draw.
This saw the team overall come in 3rd place with Wellington winning the Shand Salver for 2026.
The Development team consisted of 10 players from throughout Hawke’s Bay. Hastings had five players selected to play. The players from Hastings were Louie Williams, Jack Bernie, Oliver Williams, Niamh McGillicuddy, Archer Kinnear & Patch Stafford.
Their first match against Taranaki saw a very tight tussle but unfortunately Taranaki came away victors 6-4. The afternoon saw the team up against Manawatu/Whanganui. After some very tight matches in the afternoon the team came away with a solid 7-3 win. This saw the development team come in 2nd place to Wellington.
It was fantastic to see so many of our Hastings Juniors representing Hawke’s Bay.
