PRESIDENT’S UPDATE – October 2026
At our September meeting the Management Committee reviewed the club’s financial results one month out from the end of our financial year. We also considered the likely end of year results. More information on our operating budget results and challenges in the 2025/26 financial year and the 2026/27 operating budget will be available to members in the annual report once the audit is completed.
At this stage I will say to members that in order to maintain the course to the level we expect and enjoy in this current economic reality of increasing costs, not least of all attributed to the cost of fuel, is challenging. This applies to food and beverage, our other important revenue centre, as well. We set subscriptions at a level that we expect ensures we can meet our budgeted course and other operating expenditure. The subscriptions set for 2026/27 certainly do not anticipate a large end of year surplus.

Nominations are invited from members for the roles made vacant by two management committee members not seeking re-election. The nominations board will go up on 8 October. If you are interested in this important volunteer role, we have a written guide to the skills and experience needed for club governance. Please ask the General Manager for a copy. As always, I am most willing to sit down with any member who is thinking about joining the committee.

The Management Committee is keen to meet with interested members for another of our Members Engagement Sessions to be held on Monday 19 October at 5:30pm. The General Manager will include this information in a forthcoming Membership Matters along with information regarding registration for the session. Numbers will be limited so, if necessary, we will hold another session in November.

Some club trophy competitions are still ongoing. Good luck to the women competing in the Baker Cup, LGU and Club Championship matches, and the men still competing in the Mulholland Cup and the Vets Cup.
Congratulations and best of luck to Di Syer and Stuart Duff who are about to represent New Zealand at the Trans-Tasman Seniors in Brisbane in a couple of weeks and then the Asia Pacific Seniors being held in Macau in November.
Enjoy your golf.
