Women's Update

Daylight Saving is here, so summer must be on its way. With record numbers on the course over the past few months, it will be interesting to see if this continues with the warmer weather and longer daylight hours.

Robbie Brown Open Tournament

This was held recently for the second time, and it was just as much fun as the first. Thanks to sponsor Pam Robbie for all her help and support to make the tournament such a success. We missed Kay Brown, the other half of Robbie Brown, and hope that 2021 will allow trans-Tasman travel so that we can see the dynamic duo together again. Thanks also to our awesome models Jocelyn McClelland, Jo Allen and Belle Absolom, your enthusiasm meant the fashion parade was a hit with everyone in the club house and certainly had a few members on the course wondering what all the noise was about. Mark this event in your diary for September next year, it is certainly a day not to miss. The winners on the day were:

Approach division 1: Claire Turner

Approach division 2: Buffy Longstaff

Straightest drive: Fay Bagley

Teams Stableford 3rd place: Victoria De Pree, Ally Morris, Jenny Evans, Christine Helmore.

Teams Stableford 2nd place: Cheryl Jones, Libby Warren, Sue McNae, Denise Walsh.

Teams Stableford Winners: Nicky Bower, Karen Tobeck, Lou Curtis, Vicki Sutcliffe.

Captains v Presidents

This trophy is on the line next Tuesday. If you are playing you can either choose which team you wish to play for, or a team can be selected for you. Your score card will show whether you are on the Captain’s team or the President’s team.

Match Play competitions

We are getting to the business end of the club champs, thanks to everyone who competed this year. Finals day is 1 November, if you have time during the day come out and follow the finalists for a while, your support is always appreciated by the players.

Shootout

There’s still time to get your cards in for this year’s shootout. Remember that the women’s format gives you the luxury of entering your card after you have played, so if you have played well don’t forget to advise the team in the pro-shop that you would like to enter your card as a shootout card. For as little as $50, you could be playing at Cape Kidnappers on November 12th – a course that should be on every golfer’s bucket list.

Winter Trophies

There are a couple of trophies outstanding from last year. If you won a trophy last year, please check your bookshelf or mantlepiece and drop it back in to the office or pro-shop please.

Closing Day and Prizegiving

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that prizegiving will be a little different this year – and why not? Everything else in 2020 is different! The major prize winners will be presented at a combined prizegiving/sponsors dinner on Friday December 4th. This is a mixed prizegiving and everyone is welcome to attend the dinner. More details closer to the time.

Closing Day has also had to be moved from its regular spot on Melbourne Cup day due to the course being closed for coring. This will now be held on Saturday November 14th and Tuesday November 17th. The Tuesday format will be the usual 6 in a team Ambrose, but there may be a 2020 twist! Watch this space…..

I'm posting this with a heavy heart...

As much as I love everything about golf and anything and everything related to it, it takes up too much of my time and I am struggling to keep up with the everyday basics such as cleaning and helping out around the house, so something has to give.

Therefore, I have decided I will be getting rid of all my kit.

Below is a list of what is available. Serious enquiries only please and don't insult me with undervalue offers.
