Women's Update

Wow hard to believe we are halfway through the year and the shortest day. Great to see so many players out on the course playing. We are so lucky living in New Zealand and having the luxury of being able to play Golf. The annual Annie Hutchinson Tournament was well represented and thank goodness the weather was kind to us. I wish to thank Hamish Gibbs at Hutchinson’s for their ongoing support of this Event. The club welcomes Melissa Greatorex a 9 Hole member to the Club.

Lucy May & Bays Bonze Interprovincial Challenge

Hastings hosted the annual Lucy May & Bays Bronze Interprovincial Challenge, and our club was well represented. The weather over the 27 holes played was a challenge with wind, rain, a peek of sunshine.

Congratulations to the following players: Anna Wood, Alison Graham, Robyn Stallard, Joanne Wheater, Bronwyn Clayton, Patsy White and Rosemary Burns who played. We also had two reserves selected Deb Hewitt and Sally Bush. The competition was very tight with Poverty Bay winning both Trophies by 1 point. Oh, so close.

The draw is up on the notice board in the Women’s Locker room. Please check the draw and coordinate with your opposition a date to complete your matches. First round to be completed by Tuesday 20th July.

Midweek Pennants / Crossman Cup & Golf Fanatics Trophy Weekend Competition

Hastings Tuis and Hastings Bellbirds midweek teams have been very competitive and are both at the top of the ladder. Both Midweek Teams had to play each other on Monday at Waipawa and all matches were tightly contested through to 18 holes. The Teams ended up Drawing both the 4 Ball and Individual Matches. Crossman Team’s last game is on Sunday 20th June.

Central Zone Association Day – Monday 12the July

The Central Zone is running an 18 Hole Stableford Tournament and 9 Hole Stableford Tournament at the Napier Golf Club on Monday 12th July. Entry Fee 18 Holes $15 and 9 Holes $10. Plus all players to bring a “Winter Theme” prize wrapped in Newspaper for the Prize Table. This is a fun day out and everyone ends up with a prize. The proceeds from this tournament helps fund the Association’s Representative Team costs. Entries close Thursday 9th July. See the notice board for full details.

Also it has come to my attention there is a number of Women members teeing off before their allocated booking time. This is not acceptable especially as if can effect the tee times of all club members and visitors. If you wish to start earlier, please check with the Pro Shop to see if there is an available tee time.

Happy Golfing everyone.

Regards

Robyn
