You may have read in the recent President Update the issue of total membership numbers was being discussed. This has been exposed due to some days in particular an excess of members for tee times available.  The 7-day trends have been analysed and this data used in part of the decision making.  The Management Committee believe the problem isn't only with the number of members rather the frequency of play of our members.

 

That being said it was agreed unanimously at the recent M/C meeting the membership numbers at Hastings Golf Club be capped at 1,100 from 1 October 2021.  The numbers do not include School U13 or Student membership as these categories are important to the future growth of the game overall.

 

The membership numbers as at 16 Sept 2021 is currently 1,027. 

 

 

 

 

There have been a few minor changes to membership categories and eligibility to align with our growing membership.

 

From 1 October 2021 the following will apply:

 

Flexi Membership - available as an introductory membership for new members. i.e. not an option for current members to 'downgrade' to. 

 

Summer 5/7 - The previous two options for Summer membership is consolidated to one membership (7 day access).

 

Playing outside category - If a member chooses to play outside their membership category a green fee of $40 is payable.

Due to the current covid lockdown the Dementia Hawke's Bay Charity Tournament is now rescheduled to Wednesday 13 October 2021.

A reminder the welcome back top-up for 20% bonus money loaded onto your membership card is still available until 8 October.  If you haven't used your member card yet it is a good opportunity to get into this habit as we are currently cashless.

Congratulations to Lance Williams in passing R&A Level 2 Rules exam at the recent 2021 Rules Course held by the HBGRA.  Lance has regained his District Rules Official referee status.

 

Congratulations are also in order to John Kelly, Robyn Kelly and Christine Bird who have all gained Club Referee Status.

 

The rules course and exam are not for the fainted hearted as half is done without reference materials, so pleasing to see a few more members up for the challenge. 

A reminder the greenkeepers have right of way on the course.  The team work diligently to ensure their work is not interrupting play however this is not always possible.  If a mower is on a green please wait to be waved up from the staff member before having your approach shot.

 

We have also received reports of members being hit up on/over during their round.  Obviously this kind of dangerous play is not accepted and we ask that you are fully aware of how far in front a group is before taking your shots.
