Women's Update

Where has the year gone?? Christmas is looming fast, and the weather has really turned it on. The last few months has been amazingly busy with Special AGM’s and Women’s Events. Great to see a number of our members out supporting other Clubs Competitions in the Region. Mystery Golf Trips

Brett from Special Tee Golf organised two Women’s Mystery Trips when the course was closed due to coring.

The 18 Holes Mystery ended up at Takapau Golf Course and the Central Hawkes Bay Club were fabulous hosts in providing lunch for us all, the course played well with some particularly challenging par 3’s. There was a prize up for grabs with the best Stableford Score which went to Robyn Stallard.

Our 9 Hole Mystery morning was played at the 9 Hole Black Barn/Hill Country Course. The ladies had fun working out what clubs they needed for the short par 3 course. The weather wasn’t great, but it did hold out for them in the morning. Prize winner was Claire Meech who won a Bottle of Moet.

Thanks to Brett and AJ for coordinating two great Mystery days out. Everyone had a great time and are looking forward to the next Mystery.

Winter Prizegiving & Closing Day

Winter Prizegiving and Golf Day is always a fun way to end the season and to celebrate the achievements of our 18 Hole and 9 Hole members over the season. The format was an Ambrose with a Twist. Yes, the Dice was our twist and we had lots of laughs and gambles of what we were going to throw. There were 9 Teams competing for the 18-hole 6-person team prize. Runners up “The Odd Balls” and the Winner “Jenny’s Team”. In the 9 Hole section we had 5 teams competing, runners up “Firebirds” and winners “Hack Attack”. Longest Putt for all – Belinda Alexander. 18 Hole Closest to the Pin Division 1 – Fiona Ellis, 18 Hole closest to the Pin Division 2 – Sue Agnew and 9 Hole closest to the Pin all divisions – Vicki Sutcliffe. Thanks so much to all in supporting this Event.

Suzelles Shootout Finals

Well, the players were up early for the annual Shootout Challenge. The standard was high, and it certainly tested one’s nerves with sudden death either as a putt off or at the end of each hole. Thanks to Suzelles in sponsoring and great to have Lyndy Bass out there supporting our 18-hole and 9-hole players. Also, a special thanks to our volunteers on the day Robin Symes, Robin Bell, Denise Bull, Gayle McLennan, Vicki Sutcliffe and Lou Curtis and a special thanks to AJ for making things go “Easy Peezy” very relaxed and social.

The top 4 Places were:

18 Hole 9 Hole

1st Rosemary Burns 1st Michelle Cowan

2nd Buffy Longstaff 2nd Gaye Robertson

3rd Julie Brangwin 3rd Heather Gregory

4th Robyn Stallard 4th Jackie Henderson

Annual Tuesday Women v Tuesday Men

We held this on Tuesday 30th November with a full field having a shotgun start. Unfortunately, the weather was not kind to us with heavy rain. The format was amended to the best of 9 holes stableford points. The Men’s Team was the winner on the day by the barest of margins. Congratulations to the Men’s Team and of special note congratulations to Sue McNae, Andrea Cranswick and Linda Orton for each scoring 22 Stableford Points for the Team.
