Junior Update
It was an eventful school holiday for our Hastings juniors with tournaments in the Wellington region, the Hawke's Bay Age Groups and junior winter camp.
The tournaments kicked off at the 2022 Eagles Junior Open held at Paraparaumu GC under wet and windy conditions. Congratulations to our four juniors that attended; Ruby Jarvis, Luke Jarvis, Levi Bayley and Lachlan Smith. They then travelled onto the 2022 Futures Wellington Age Grade Championships at Boulcoutts Farm which was equally as windy if not more.
What a great experience for all and a fabulous result for Ruby Jarvis winning the Under 13 Stableford. Keeping it in the family Luke Jarvis won the Under 13 Stableford as well. Well done to both of you.
During the last week of the school holidays the Hawke's Bay Age Group Championships were held at Napier. Once again the weather wasn't kind but our Hastings junior members battled on.
We had six juniors that participated:
Ruby Jarvis won the nett division shooting her best score off the yellow tees of 99. Well done Ruby for breaking 100.
Luke Jarvis placed 3rd in the U13 gross division.
Levi Bayley won the U13 nett division/boys.
George Pogson placed 2nd in the U13 nett division.
George Bidwell placed 5th in the U13 gross division.
Lachlan Smith placed 7th in the U13 gross division.
Our winter camp was held 12-14 July and we had 17 keen young golfers attend. Congratulations to all the juniors that attended, there were some outstanding results achieved and we all had a blast. Not to mention the yummy morning teas prepared by Fairways, thank you team.
The upcoming term 3 junior programme kicks off on 31st July with over 30 juniors signed up.
We are still after members to support our on course Sunday junior competitions. Without this support we run the risk of losing our juniors and the momentum the junior programme has had over the past six months.
Lastly, our next junior camp is scheduled for 4-6 October.
