NZ Falcon - Karearea

As noted in the previous newsletter, the falcons are breeding in the area between hole 5 & hole 18.

The area has been roped off for golfers protection and to allow the birds to go about their business.  If your ball enters the roped area, please do not retrieve it. Relief may be taken from nearest point of entry regardless if it is closer to the hole or not. For full Rule click here.

Rough Mower Purchase

The club recently purchased a new Jacobsen rough mower from the team at Power Turf as part of our capital replacement programme.

We wish to acknowledge thanks to the following funding organisations for supporting the purchase of this.

Pub Charity - $20,000 and TAB Funding - $8,000

Due to the post-pandemic world there has been an increase of approx 60-70% in machinery, so we are grateful for the support from these organisations.

Staff Development

Staff education and continued professional development is an important part of the club's strategic plan and ensuring our team continue to develop and learn within the industry.

We are happy to report that Mark Mills our greenkeeper has been selected to participate in the Future Turf Managers Initiative (FTMI).  Mark is one of two New Zealanders selected and we have no doubt he will represent the club to the higest quality.

The FTMI will provide participants with people management, communication and budgeting skills as well as providing ongoing mentorship.

The initiative will take place between November 2022 and March 2023.  There are four, 90-min online training sessions and four online mentor group sessions.  At the completion of the online component there will be a 2.5 day face to face intensive training including presentations, workshops, team building exercises and a graduation dinner and ceremony which will be held in Melbourne.

We wish Mark all the best for the programme and no doubt he will bring back many benefiting skills learnt during his time through the programme.
