Junior Update
What an action-packed Term 3 it was for our Hastings Juniors.
Hastings Callaway Junior programme
In term 3 the Hastings Callaway Junior programme had 26 students showing up every Sunday morning to partake in their weekly coaching and on-course play with 9 juniors playing on the 18 hole course and the rest of our juniors playing on the 4 hole short course.
A big thank you to Graeme Bell for his support with our Junior Programme in terms 2 and 3.
Term 4 we have 33 juniors signed up with the programme kicking off this Sunday 30th October. We are excited to announce the restructure to our programme you will read below. We will return back to three squads in terms 1 & 2 with these terms being our busiest. In Term 4 many juniors are playing cricket and surf lifesaving.
The PLAYERS SQUAD is for students level 5 and above. Students that currently have a course handicap or close to maintaining one and for students 14 years old and above.
Coaching will be held 8:30am - 10:00am (1.5 hours) every Sunday with the intention to add a weekday training mid-term.
Four tee times are set aside every Sunday from 10:18am onwards for our 9 and 18 hole competitions. There are a couple of juniors that are progressing from the 4 hole course. They will play from the blue markers in the middle of the fairway until they shot a score lower than 45/90 they can then graduate onto the terracotta’s. Parents will be out on the course with their child supporting them with their golf and speed of play.
The DEVELOPMENT SQUAD is for students Level 4 and below.
Their coaching will be held from 10:30am - 12:00pm (1 hour coaching and 30 minutes coaching on course) every Sunday with the intention to add a weekday training midterm.
The Development 4 hole competition will commence at 11:30 with coaches present for 30 minutes.
At the completion of each Sunday Prize giving’s will be held for one for the 4 and 9 hole students and the other for the 18 hole students.

Junior Development Assistant
We are looking for the right person to assist with our Junior Development.
The role will be 10 hours + per week in Term 4 with the intentions to grow into a part time 20 hour role in Term 1.
Junior Camps
October holiday camp was a success with 21 juniors participating. Our next camp is scheduled for 20-23 December 2022.
US Kids Tournament
Congratulations to Luke Jarvis and Levi Bayley who participated in the US Kids tournament held at the Te Puke Golf Club on 12th & 13th September.
Luke placed 3rd Gross in the boys 9-10 age group.

Taupo Mini Masters
A fun filled 3 days day one Putting Championship and 9 hole Ambrose, day two 9 & 18 hole Stroke Play followed by Longest Drive Championship and day three 9 & 18 hole Stroke Play.
Well done to our 5 Hastings Juniors that participated.

A few our Juniors posted personal best scores which was such an achievement. A big congratulations to Luke Jarvis for winning his division.
Futures HB Events
We have approximately 6 students participating in the 18 holes, 3 students in the 9 hole and 6 students participating in the 4/6 hole Ambrose event each Futures Event.
Hasting Golf Club will be hosting a Futures Event on Sunday 4th September.
Booth Shield
Congratulations to Ruby Jarvis for firstly being selected for the HB representative team. It is the 1st time in 7 years Hawke’s Bay had entered a team in The Booth Shield. The 54hole tournament was held at The Omokoroa Golf club.
The Hawke’s Bay Team won the 61st Booth Shield tournament and also brought home the Webber Shield. Well Done to Andrew Henare and his team for making this happen.
Eagles Invitational
Good luck to our Hasting Juniors that have been selected to take part in the 12 person development team to represent the Hawke’s Bay Eagles in their annual quadrangular event at The Pahiatua Golf Club, on Sunday 6th November.
This is a stableford/match play event vs Teams from Wellington, Manawatu & Wanganui and Taranaki.

Hasting Junior Christmas Cheer
Our Christmas Cheer will be held on Sunday 18th December Parent/Child Canadian foursomes. Students can choose to play in the18, 9 or 4 hole event.
A lunch will be held at the completion of their round, followed by the prize giving.
We would like to have little gift packs for the teams and ask for support from members to donate items for their Christmas gift bags. We are expecting around 60 teams in the entire event.
