Dear Guest,

Tournament Success

The Wallace Development Hastings Open was held last week and was a showcase of the club and one of the best the club as delivered!

Thank you to Jonathan Wallace, Wallace Development Company and Matt McDowall, Bayswater European for their support and sponsorship for the inaugural event, without this the tournmaent would not have got off the ground.

To our legacy sponsors who have supported from year one and committed for the next three, thanks.  And, our amateurs that entered and supported the weekend pro-am event, thanks to you too.  We trust you all enjoyed the event.

Brett and his pro-shop team worked throughout the week to ensure participants were looked after.  Special praise should go to Brett Allan who worked tirelessly to arrange sponsorships and co-ordinate the whole tournament logistics with many parties involved.  It was a massive undertaking and the smooth running of the tournament was in large part due to Brett's efforts.  He served the club very well.

Our Course Superintendent Ben Simons and the whole greenkeeping team (Mark, Gordon, Drew, Graham & Kris), who, under very trying climatic conditions, produced a quality course unrivalled in club courses in New Zealand.  Many comments were received from players over the weekend on the magic that was undertaken daily by the 'greenies' and the playing surfaces delivered.

Grant and our team in Fairways who pulled off one of the biggest weeks with such limited numbers did so under his well managed guidance.  Even a rain delay didn't phase anyone and the participants supported the clubhouse well.

Our management team of the club also worked tirelessly to "make things happen" as needed.

Finally, thanks to our golf committee and all our club members who volunteered their time for spotting, scoring, refereeing, and other duties throughout the tournament.

We continue to elevate the Hastings Open.  James Hydes (Gulf Harbour) won the men's trophy after a two-hole play off with his national academy teammate, Tyler Wood.

Tara Raj (Wanganui) won the women's amateur title.  Tara was also named this week as one of six kiwis to be invited to compete at the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) in Singapore.  She'll be one to watch.

The inaugural Charles Tour component was won by Harry Bateman.  He's had success at Bridge Pa winning the Hastings Open as an amateur two years consecutively in 2012 and 2013.

Congratulations also to club member Pud Scott winning the amatuer Pro-Am tournament with his professional partner Tyler Wood.

All Pro-Am results can be found on Golf New Zeland page here.
