Irrigation Replacement Winter Installation - what you need to know

Our team are all set to commence this winter's installation project and there will be some hole closures to be aware of.  For any hole that is closed during your round you are able to record two stableford points for that hole and walk through to the next hole playable.

As some of the winter competitions for our women members are recorded on a national level with Golf New Zealand, there will be allowances made to ensure you are able to play 18 holes on a Tuesday i.e. LGU, Nancy McCormick.  In order to do this the start sheet will change to a one-tee start on some days. Once the women's field has played through the hole being worked on in that particular week, the hole will close.  All other members playing will play 17 holes (recording 2-stablefords).

The plan also allows for any upcoming charity and corporate tournaments fixtures.

The below is a plan for the anticpated work.  Please note all good plans may change and this will be due to inclement weather.  The pro shop will have a note on the card printer daily to remind you all of what hole is closed and start sheets will be altered each Monday.

The Plan - week commencing

Monday, May 1st - Hole 13 closed Monday only.  Hole 16 closed Thursday only.

Monday, May 8th - Hole 1 closed 

Monday, May 17th - Hole 15 closed Weds & Thur

Monday, May 22nd - Hole 7 closed

Junior Update

There was plenty going on around the club for our junior members and guests over the April school holidays.  22 juniors particpated in the April Camp with nine being completely new to have a go which was exciting.

A big congratulations to all our Hastings members that represented Hawke's Bay Golf in the Junior Development Quadrangular played at Marton Golf Club 11th & 12th April. Ruby Jarvis, Levi Bayley, Luke Jarvis, Leo Dixon, George Bidwell and Leo Huata.

There was also a number of juniors that went on to play in the Manawatu/Wanganui Age Group Championship held at Feilding Golf Club.  Congratulations to everyone the participated.

A special mention...

Boys Under 13 

Stableford 1st & Gross 4th place - Luke Jarvis.  A tournament PB of 73 +2 for Luke!

Gross 5th = place - George Bidwell & Levi Bayley.  A tournament PB of 81 +10 for Levi.

Girls Under 13

Stableford 1st & Gross 1st place - Ruby Jarvis.  A tournament PB 81 +10.

Boys Under 16

Stableford 1st place - Leo Dixon

There is still time to sign up to the Hastings Junior Program which starts this coming Sunday, April 30th.  

Life Member Remembered

We acknowledge the recent passing of our life member, Olwyn Ward.  Mrs. Ward was a active member back in the 1980s and is mentioned several times in the club's "In Pursuit of Perfection" for her contributions to the ladies club, in particular her involment on the organsing committee for the 1980 Russell Grace Tournament.

Our thoughts are with Owlyn's family and friends and hope her golfing days are remembered fondly.

Frost Policy

With the cooler mornings coming, a reminder of the club's frost policy.  Please be mindful of this when booking your tee times and consider some later times if a frost is forecast.

The start sheet will be updated and a message to those names on the start sheet of the day will be sent advising of any delays.

Monday - Early tee times that are lost due to frost - miss out.

Tuesday - Women's Competition Day.  Women have priority, even when delayed by frost.

Wednesday - Early tee times that are lost due to frost  - miss out.

Thursday - Players that fail to make the turn by 11:00am MUST give way to the afternoon field.

Friday - Early tee times that are lost due to frost  - miss out.

Saturday - Early tee times that are lost due to frost  - miss out.

If frost cancels all play, including those women playing in a club competition, the women that are playing in the club competition will be given priority for the first available tee times.  This could cause a slight delay to the afternoon field but shoudl allow most of the afternoon field to complete play.

Sunday - Early tee times that are lost due to frost  - miss out.
