Dear Guest,

Course Closure - Next Monday

Due to the extreme amount of rain this year, the greens need a one-off aeration.  This will commence this coming Sunday afternoon (after the last tee times), the course will be CLOSED on Monday 24 July and the remainder completed Tuesday morning (one tee start).

Why do we aerate?

Aeration of our greens has become essential after a sustained period of rainfall and high golf numbers.

We have had 892mm of rainfall this year to date and increased golf numbers because of other local club closures have resulted in our greens becoming very compact and not accepting water as well as they should be, and not draining as effectively as usual.

Here are a few pointers about why it is necessary we aerate after the past few months and how it will improve our green’s playability.

  • Improves surface drainage.
  • Improves surface dryness.
  • Creates channels for water to filtrate faster.
  • Reduces soil compaction.
  • Encourages healthy, deep roots.
  • Aids thatch break down.
  • Helps to fight against most infestation.

This will be a lot less intrusive than our usual bi-annual aeration and recovery should be fast.

We appreciate your support and look forward to smooth and healthy greens!!

Note the Pro Shop will be closed.

On Course Safety

We had a rather nasty accident last week with a member being hit in the face by a golf ball after playing the 16th hole and walking back to the 17th tee.

Please do not tee off on the 16th until it is clear and all players from the group in front of you are well and truly back to the 17th tee area before you commence playing the hole.

This is a good reminder for all areas of the course and ensuring safe practices and courtesies are given at all times.
